healing is like tending to a tree and its roots.

The visible parts—the branches, leaves, and flowers—represent our conscious awareness, the stories we tell, the decisions we make, the symptoms we experience, and the patterns of our relationships. Beneath the surface, however, lies the root system, representing our unconscious awareness—the deep-seated experiences, beliefs, and wounds that quietly influence our lives and the choices we make.

Many of us learned protective behaviors as children or in difficult circumstances; coping mechanisms designed to shield us when our needs weren’t met. These behaviors served us well in the moment, helping us navigate through pain, fear, or neglect. However, what once protected us may now be causing challenges in our lives, our bodies, and our relationships, both with ourselves and the people around us.

These issues are like signals, inviting us to dig below the surface and address the root causes. By doing so, we are able to tend to our wounds and bring hidden parts of ourselves into conscious awareness. This process allows us to integrate all aspects of who we are—our strengths, vulnerabilities, and past experiences—and move closer to our innate authenticity and wholeness.

Healing is also about honoring the soil that holds us—our bodies—and tuning into the wisdom they carry. Our bodies store emotions, tensions, and unspoken truths, offering vital clues about the roots of our struggles.

Speed is the enemy of depth; this work requires time, dedication, and can often, be really fucking uncomfortable. That’s why I’m here. To offer support through a connection built on authenticity, attunement, respect and truth. To provide guidance by shining a flashlight in the places worth exploring. And to share my knowledge, wisdom, and resources, and help you find the tools that work for you.

My hope is that together, we can create a container that embraces the wholeness of our humanness where all of our parts are welcome just as they are; a space to laugh and cry, grieve and rage, reclaim pleasure, rest, and celebrate both the major milestones and simple joys that carry us through.

a bit about me

I was born and raised in a small ski town nestled in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, where my love for the outdoors took root and nurtured my connection with the natural world.

When you're given the name Journey, you kinda owe it to yourself to live up to your namesake. By the time I turned 30, I had filled up a passport with a collection of adventures from every corner of the globe. Along the way, I had the privilege of meeting people from all walks of life, each deepening my curiosity about the human experience. During this time, I also pursued a career in international development, where I spent over a decade managing nonprofit programs across Eastern and Southern Africa, Afghanistan, and Haiti.

My transition to becoming a therapist was deeply personal—a homecoming to myself. It continues to be a journey of healing—tending to my own roots and relationships—which has inspired me to help others navigate their own paths of growth and transformation.

My own toolbox is filled with tools informed by science and magic, intellect and intuition, community, ceremony, and curiosity. And of course, a pumpkin chocolate chip cookie because sometimes, it’s about the small pleasures!

You can usually find me outside—barefoot whenever possible—hiking, surfing, skiing, snowboarding, or exploring with my dog, Cooper. I also love traveling, slow mornings (with coffee, always), gathering with loved ones to share a nourishing meal, yoga, deep belly laughs, and cultivating mind-body-spirit practices that support my own sense of wholeness.

Every day, I strive to show up as authentically as possible. Sometimes I get it right, sometimes I stumble (often awkwardly), but I always aim to lead with honesty and an open heart.
